CODE OF CONDUCT STATEMENT OF RECEIPT AND AGREEMENT
I promise to strictly follow the rules and guidelines in this Code of Conduct as a condition of my volunteer service with Wilco Iris.

I will:

• Treat everyone with respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity, and consideration.


• Never be alone with individual youth at organizational activities.


• Use positive reinforcement rather than criticism, competition, or comparison when working with youth.


• Maintain appropriate physical boundaries at all times.


• Comply with the mandatory reporting laws of Tennessee and with the Wilco Iris handbook to report suspected child abuse. I understand that failure to report suspected child maltreatment to civil authorities is against the law.


• Cooperate fully in any investigation of abuse of youth.

I will not:

Touch or speak to youth in a sexual or other inappropriate manner.

Inflict any physical or emotional abuse such as striking, spanking, shaking, slapping, humiliating, ridiculing, threatening, or degrading youth.

Smoke or use tobacco products or possess/be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at any time while working with youth.

Give a child who is not my own a ride home alone.

Engage, as a volunteer, in private communications with youth via text messaging, email, Facebook, Twitter or other similar forms of electronic or social media, unless expressly permitted by a parental form and with the President or V.P. of Wilco Iris included in the communication.

Take photos of youth without express consent from a parental form or post any photos of youth at Wilco Iris events on social media.

Engage in a romantic relationship with a Wilco Iris student while volunteering regardless of whether the student is over the age of 18.

I understand that as a person working with youth under the auspices of Wilco Iris I am subject to a criminal history background check. By checking the box below, I confirm that I have read this Code of Conduct and agree to follow the standards it contains. I understand that any action inconsistent with this Code of Conduct, or failure to act as mandated by this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action up to and including removal from my position.
